Computing Services FileX - File Transfer
Most email systems, including ours will block large and dangerous attachments. To accommodate users with a need to transfer safe documents FileX has been introduced to all Project, KPBS and Central Staff. FileX has been redesigned to improve upon the existing file upload and invitation process. For a full list of features please visit the FileX FAQs. To use FileX you will need your email address, password as well as have your RedID associated with your Foundation e-mail account. The file upload process allows you to upload files that can later be downloaded via the generated web link. The link can either be e-mailed to you or sent to your intended recipient(s) on your behalf. Suggestion: We recommend you compress all files to be sent using a compression program, such as WinZip. Not only will this reduce the amount of space used on our server but it will also allow you to send large quantity of files at once. Sometimes it may necessary for someone to send you a file, for that we've designed an "Invitation" process, where you will provide the senders e-mail address to our server. The server will then send that person a web link that will expire once it has been used. The link allows the senders to upload up to three files at once. Again it's recommended that a compression program be used when sending a large quantity of files. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact the Service Desk.
