McAfee

San Diego State University has a home use site-license for McAfee VirusScan Enterprise for both Windows PC’s and Macintosh. Active faculty and staff can acquire this software by providing a blank CDR along with completing a license agreement at the help desk. Faculty and staff should first check with their local administrators to make sure they adhere to virus software policies that might be specific to their own departments. All users must adhere to the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).

MiniTab

Minitab is a statistical software package for Windows. Faculty and staff may borrow the software which must be returned within two days.

Originally intended as a tool for teaching statistics, it is designed for easy interactive use. Minitab is well suited for instructional applications and is most popular as a teaching tool; however, it is also powerful enough to be used as a primary tool for analyzing research data.

SAS

Statistical Analysis Software (SAS) is available for Windows. Faculty and staff may borrow the software which must be returned within two days.SAS is an integrated system of software products provided by SAS Institute that performs the following tasks:

  • Data entry, retrieval, management and mining.
  • Report writing and graphics.
  • Statistical analysis.
  • Business planning, forecasting and decision support.

SPSS

SPSS Statistical analysis software is available for Windows and Macintosh. Active faculty and staff may borrow the software which must be returned within two days. SPSS is among the most widely used programs for statistical analysis in the social sciences. Market researchers, health researchers, survey companies, government, education researchers and others use it. Features of this application include:

  • Descriptive statistics
  • Bi variate statistics
  • Prediction of numerical outcomes
  • Prediction for identifying groups

TechSmith

TechSmith software includes Camtasia and Snagit for Windows and Macintosh. Faculty and staff may acquire this software for campus computers and Work at Home use.

  • Camtasia Studio and Camtasia for Mac are software suites for creating video tutorials and presentations. Possible uses include answering questions with screen recordings and Picture-in-Picture for online training.
  • Snagit is a screen capture and editing tool, similar to print screen, which captures animations, graphics and text in the form of images as well as video. Snagit allows the user to enhance an entire desktop, region, or window.

X-WIN 32

X-WIN 32 allows remote display of UNIX windows on Microsoft Windows OS. Faculty and staff may acquire this software for campus computers and Work at Home use.

PC X Server for displaying remote Unix and Linux desktops and individual X applications. Features include 6 Standard connection protocols (ssh, telnet, rexec, rlogin, rsh, XDMCP), Window modes, and OpenGL support.

Deep Freeze

Deep Freeze creates a Frozen snapshot of a workstation's desired configuration and settings. Any unwanted changes are removed upon restart and the compmuter is returned to it's Frozen state.

  • Deep Freeze Enterprise: Centralized deployment and management as well as a host of configuration options for the Enterprise.
  • Deep Freeze Server: Protect your Windows and Mac Server operating systems and ensure they're running at 100% operating availability.
  • Deep Freeze for Mac: Ultimate Mac OS X protection that leverages Apple Remote Desktop for deployment and management.
  • Deep Freeze StandardBulletproof disk protection designed for computing environments of 1-10 workstations.
